Château Mauléon Réserve Chêne Rouge
AOP Côtes du Roussillon Villages
There is Caramany and Caramany. Ours is the Réserve Chêne Rouge by Château Mauléon. You must remember this exclusive, unique label, painstakingly crafted and matured by the winemakers at Auriol.
|Grape Varieties||90% Syrah, 10% Carignan|
|Geography||The Southern French wine region of Roussillon is the sunniest part of France, on the border with Spain. Located in the heart of the Agly valley, between the Conflent valley and the Fenouillèdes mountain range, the vineyards of Caramany overlook the lake of the same name.|
|Winemaking||The grapes are picked by hand early in the morning and left as whole clusters, followed by carbonic fermentation which imparts the wine with full-flavoured fruit. Post-fermentation maceration then lasts for 3 weeks. The deeply coloured wines are matured in new 225-litre French oak casks for 9 months, imbuing them with concentrated aromas of ripe fruits, cherry and blackcurrant.|
|Tasting Note||The nose offers up notes of blackcurrant and vanilla suffused with roasted coffee. The palate is ample, supple and persistent.|
