Dear friends, Dear customers,
Facing the current health news, allow us to express our hope that you and your relatives are ok. We have taken the necessary sanitary measures, for the health of our employees and the best possible workflow for our company.
Like every year, we publish the awards for our wines. Prize list which largely rewards many wines whether in wine guides like Hachette Vin, Bettane & Desseauve, Gilbert and Gaillard or even in international competitions in which we participate with enthusiasm.
Well before the sun emerges on the horizon, grape pickers are already walking up and down the rows of vines. It is chilly. The Verdejo grapes will be harvested quickly to protect them from the heat – September 2019 is still hot. The clusters are picked by hand and placed in crates to avoid crushing them. In one short morning, the grapes are pressed and put into tanks in the winery.
Welcome to Johanna, winemaker Harvest 2019 at Château Cicéron.
She is in charge of the vinification of the four grape varieties of the Jardin des Vignes Rares.
The defining feature of the vintage is extreme weather, and the likelihood is that this could be replicated in years to come. The severity and permanence of drought are game changers. The industry’s forthcoming plans will involve rapidly reviewing appellation rules, to include
- A revised, modernised and suitable varietal range.
- Appropriate and imaginative vineyard management methods.
- Drip irrigation - a supply of water is becoming essential for the vine’s evaporation cycle to occur.
